Second Chance Fellow Daryl Atkinson

Justice Department Announces First-Ever Second Chance Fellow, our Daryl Atkinson.

“During the meeting, I had the 000001secondchancebutton-smaller_0distinct pleasure of announcing Daryl Atkinson as DOJ’s first-ever Second Chance Fellow.  This position was designed to bring in a person with expertise as a leader in the criminal justice field – and as a formerly incarcerated individual.  Recognizing that many of those directly impacted by the criminal justice system hold significant insight into reforming the justice system, the Bureau of Justice Assistance – led by Director Denise O’Donnell – released a competitive solicitation that led to Daryl’s selection. ”

Dear MR. Atkinson, I’m writing you after discovering your position on ADAM RUINS EVERYTHING. I am being paroled on September 7, 2018 after serving 22 years in prison. 14 of which was served in the FBOP. There are no reentry programs that I have found , and seeing your position surprises me being that no services are being made available.m So I’m reaching out in hopes of connecting with services that will aid in my reentry to the community. I will be going to the YORK, PENNSYLVANIA area where I do have an uncle. After all these years I no longer have support on the streets, being that my number one supporters have passed some years ago. However, I did spend my time reeducating myself. I have obtained my Paralegal Certificate, published a novel and written articles on Entrepreneurship. I’m just looking to better my chances for success by tapping into resources that are designed for this purpose. Therefore , I would very much appreciate any referrals you can give me in regards to housing, clothing and employment. I’m looking for a hand up, not a hand out. I thank you in advance for your time, and I’m looking forward to your response.
