The Justice Center was there alongside members of the NC Second Chance Alliance – a statewide group of men and women committed to expanding opportunities for North Carolinians with criminal records – celebrating the positive impacts this law will have on tens of thousands of individuals and families across the state, as well as the General Assembly raising the minimum age of criminal prosecution for most criminal offenses from age 16 to 18. Thanks to this change, many more children will receive family-focused, age-appropriate treatment that is proven to reduce recidivism and improve outcomes, making communities safer.
