Sebastian County Prosecuting Attorney Daniel Shue has been appointed to the Interagency Task Force for the Implementation of Criminal Justice Prevention Initiatives.
Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced Shue had been appointed to the task force Monday, according to a news release from Shue. His appointment was made for a period of two years and will expire July 1, 2019.
The task force was established by the Criminal Justice Efficiency and Safety Act of 2017, Act 423, the release states. Section Five of that act provides that the purpose of the task force is to coordinate the implementation of initiatives and strategies designed to promote efficiency and safety in the criminal justice system as well as promote justice reinvestment goals. Only seven of the 17 members of the task force are appointed by the governor.
“I am very honored to be a part of this very important interagency task force, which is made up of some of the most astute judges, lawyers, legislators and correction officials in the state of Arkansas,” Shue said.
Shue said he accepted this position, and submitted his oath of office to Hutchinson.
“To have the opportunity to offer input into the overall implementation of this act is very humbling to me,” Shue said. “I am also gratified that Sebastian County will have a seat at the table of this very prestigious group. It is my hope that I can be helpful to the chairman and the other members of this task force.”
