Overcoming the challenges of eligibility and enrollment in health coverage is a necessary first step to realize the recidivism-reduction, health improvement, and cost containment potential of connecting people in the justice system to health care in the community. This webinar will present strategies for states and localities to increase enrollment in health coverage for people in the justice system, manattlogo_squarewith a focus on four promising strategies for increasing enrollment in Medicaid: bolstering the enrollment workforce, suspending and reinstating benefits, prioritizing high-needs populations, and automating eligibility renewals. The session will also cover implementation and financing considerations, and conclude with an audience question-and-answer session.

This webinar is the first in a series sharing insights from the Connecting Criminal Justice with Health Care Initiative, which brings together state and local corrections and health care officials in the state of Maryland and Los Angeles County, California, to develop and implement practical and actionable strategies for connecting people in the justice system with health coverage and care.
