Every year NYN Media uses its Front Line Hero awards to honor people who directly serve others in need through their work at nonprofit organizations. Akhter, who has been with the CSG Justice Center since 2014, works to unite business leaders, policymakers, and practitioners from the corrections and workforce development fields with the goal of improving reentry and employment outcomes for people with criminal histories.

Set to launch in August 2017, the CSC will help support criminal record clearance around the country by providing people with criminal records and non-legal service providers with information on record clearance and mitigation, as well as contact information for legal service providers. The project will also provide policymakers and legal service providers with information on the current policies governing record clearance in each state.
