North Dakota has launched Free Through Recovery, a substance use program that provides care coordination and recovery support services to people in the criminal justice system.
Launched on February 1, the program grew out of the state’s justice reinvestment initiative, which allocated $7 million for behavioral health services for people on supervision. Thirteen community providers will provide services, including peer support, to program participants in an effort to reduce recidivism and improve public health outcomes.
