Hosted by the Addiction Policy Forum
For at least the last decade, criminal justice policymakers and practitioners have been testing alternatives to incarceration as a way to ease jail overcrowding, meet the needs of people in mental health crises, provide access to services for a variety of behavioral health needs, and keep families intact.
This webinar explores the evolution of these efforts, with a specific focus on the opioid overdose crisis. Presenters from Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities (TASC) will look at several models of police and prosecutorial diversion/deflection that have proven to be effective.
