NIJThe U.S. Department of Justice’s National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is seeking applications for FY 2018 funding for grants that support research involving federally recognized tribes (or tribally based organizations) on issues of crime and justice in the United States. This program furthers the department’s mission by sponsoring research to provide objective, independent, evidence-based knowledge and tools to meet the challenges of crime and justice, particularly at the tribal level. The ultimate goal of this solicitation is to build an increased capacity to conduct rigorous research and evaluation projects in Indian country and Alaska Native villages through the promotion of engagement between researchers and tribal nations.

The solicitation provides further details about the program. Applications are due April 23.
