OJJDP logoThe U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention is accepting applications for the FY2018 Ensuring Public Safety and Improving Outcomes for Youth in Confinement and While Under Community Supervision Program, which is funded through the Second Chance Act. The funding opportunities under this program are divided into three categories:

  • Category 1 provides funding for states, territories, units of local government, and federally recognized tribal governments to implement evidence-based substance addiction and mental illness treatment services for youth who are returning to their communities from incarceration.
  • Category 2 provides funding for states, territories, units of local government, and federally recognized tribal governments to support reentry services for youth who have been involved in gangs.
  • Category 3 provides funding for nonprofit and for-profit organizations (including tribal nonprofit and for-profit organizations) and institutions of higher education (including tribal institutions of higher education) to receive training and technical assistance that will improve community supervision practices for juveniles who have co-occurring mental illnesses and substance addictions and are on probation or are being released from secure confinement.
