bjaThe Bureau of Justice Assistance’s (BJA’s) Preventing Violence Against Law Enforcement Officers and Ensuring Officer Resilience and Survivability (VALOR) Initiative is seeking applications from U.S. law enforcement agencies to participate in its Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training Model Program. The project is managed through Policy Research Associates (PRA) in partnership with the International Association of Chiefs of Police, CIT International, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness. A total of four agencies will be selected to work directly with PRA and its partners to implement BJA’s Effective Community Responses to Mental Health Crisis Training Model. Selected agencies will not receive any funding but will receive intensive technical assistance, resources, training, and expertise from a national pool of subject experts in order to adopt and operationalize an agency-wide CIT strategy. Selected agencies will engage in comprehensive strategic planning for program rollout—including program design, implementation, and partnership-building—to promote more effective and safer responses to persons experiencing a mental health crisis.

The solicitation provides further details about the program. Applications are due by April 20.
