This conference will explore the ways in which systemic injustice and discrimination, enforced through policy and interpersonal actions, have substantial impacts on mental health and can result in trauma, distress, and varying mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, addiction, substance abuse, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

The two-day conference will focus on how issues of injustice and discrimination influence and interact with mental health, and it will address ways in which vulnerable community members face injustice, discrimination, and exclusion. These individuals include those who are impacted by mental illness, poverty and homelessness, disabilities, substance abuse, and histories of incarceration, including those who face significant barriers to equality and acceptance because they identify with a wide range of racial and ethnic backgrounds, religions, languages, sexual orientations, and gender identities.
